There is nothing better than curling up with a good book. And, with rainy weather upon us, I think there is no time like the present. Over the past month, I have been fortunate to have some time for my favorite hobby. Here are the books that are currently on my nightstand.
In case it is not immediately apparent, I have somewhat eclectic reading taste. I have finished “I Am Pilgrim” and “Hillbilly Elegy” and I enjoyed both for completely different reaons (reviews here and here). “I Am Pilgrim” is a suspenseful thriller that follows an American secret agent as he tracks jihadi terrorist. “Hillbilly Elegy,” on the other hand, is a non-fiction memoir of J.D. Vance, a self-proclaimed “hillbilly” who grew up in Middleton, Ohio. Mr. Vance provides a captivating view of what it was like to grow up as a member of America’s white underclass.
I started “The Swans of Fifth Avenue” on a long flight last weekend and it definitely sucked me in. It is a non-fiction look at Truman Capote and his relationship with a glamorous group of women (or his swans) in post-WWII New York (review here). I haven’t had a chance to start on the other three yet, but I can’t wait to crack them open.
How about you? What are you reading? Are there any recommendations out there?
