Weekend Inspiration: Prepping for the Oscars

The Oscars are next Sunday.  Like many women, I consider the Oscars to be my Super Bowl — meaning I like to sit in front of, and talk to, the TV for several hours without interruption.  Although let’s face it, the fashion and star-gazing is the real draw these days, I still like to have people or films to root for.  Not just actors I like, but performances I think should win.  Typically, I will try to watch at least half of the best picture nominees; this year’s include:  The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant, Room, and Spotlight.  Sadly, I haven’t viewed a single one of these films.  I’m going to try to correct that before the big night, with my priority being The Big Short, Spotlight and the Martian (which is now available on demand).  Do you have any recommendations for which films should top my list?

weekly wrap-up:

  • Necessity does not have to mean boring.  We’re shopping for front door locks and our favorites have a lock on style.
  • The warm weather we enjoyed earlier in the week had us dreaming of a beach house (someday).  These were some of the places we wish we were right now, especially as it seems I spoke to soon and the cold weather front moved right in.
  • Follow the latest on Melissa’s home renovation with an update on kids’ bathrooms here.
