In case you have been living under a rock, this weekend is the Outside Lands music festival in Golden Gate Park.  If you don’t already have tickets, you probably are not going to get them for any sort of reasonable price (though we did find a guide to enjoying the music for free, here).  If you do have tickets, here are some great resources for getting around (here) and eating (here) while you are there.  (And just in case you aren’t sure what to wear, you can always get some inspiration on whowhatwear.com.)

I love music but I never seem to be able to commit to a three-day music festival (or even a one day festival).  But, whenever there is a major event in the city – music festival, national holiday, major sporting event, etc. – I really enjoy the fact the unaffected neighborhoods seem to slow down.  You can get into your favorite restaurant without a wait, or just enjoy the fact that fewer people are on the street than usual (just don’t try to get a cab).  So, what I am doing this weekend?  I am going to slow down, spend time with friends, and enjoy my neighborhood which I expect to be much more quiet than usual.  Maybe I’ll even turn on the live stream of Outside Lands so that I don’t feel left out of the fun.
