Not being a morning person, I especially dislike getting out of bed when it is pitch black outside, as it has been these last few weeks. So I can’t wait to “fall back” and turn back the clocks this weekend as daylight savings ends and hopefully, our true fall begins. I love sleeping in on Sundays, having a big breakfast and staying in my PJ’s for way too long. But the weekends seem so short these days, I want to really appreciate this extra hour. Here are some things I’m contemplating:
-
The Alameda Flea Market is the only thing that’ll get me out of bed at 6am on a Sunday, this month, it’ll feel like 7am and I can still get a jump on the crowds. There were a couple items I passed on last trip that I may have to go back for.
-
It’s so rare for us to go to the movies anymore. Rain is in the forecast and a rainy day is the perfect time to take in a matinee. “St. Vincent” is on my want-to-see list, or “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” would be fun for the whole family.
-
Curl up with a good book. I typically read a lot during the summer, when my favorite shows are on hiatus. The Circle was a favorite, and I’m looking for recommendations.
-
Go for a bike ride in Golden Gate Park. Sundays are a great day to get your bikes and go for a ride on JFK Drive, which is closed to cars. Check out the Conservatory of Flowers, the Japanese Tea Garden and end at the Park Chalet for a relaxing meal outside.
What will you do with your extra hour?
It’s going to be a bit chaotic in SF today as we celebrate our World Series Champs with a parade, trick-or-treat for Halloween, and rain is making an untimely arrival. I will definitely enjoy the extra hour this weekend. Happy Halloween everyone!
