I prefer to avoid restaurants on Valentine’s Day. When we have gone out to dinner on Valentine’s Day in the past, I have always ended up feeling like we paid more than we should have for a dinner that was disappointing. As a result, we prefer to enjoy a nice dinner at home. I always try to plan a meal that is at least a little bit special, but I never plan anything too complicated because I would like to enjoy a relaxing evening.
This year is no different. The dinner is simple for sure; caesar salad, linguine and dessert. All you need to do is add your favorite wine, bread from your favorite bakery, and good olive oil for dipping. This year’s dessert is a little more complicated than what I would normally plan, but the macarons are so beautiful that I couldn’t resist giving them a try.

You can make caesar salad as easy or as difficult as you would like to. There are plenty of delicious caesar salad dressings out there (I personally like Girard’s), or you can make your own. If you go with the latter, this one is very good.

Anyone who reads our blog knows that I love Ina Garten’s recipes. They are never very complicated and they are always delicious. I’ve made this one several times and it is delicious. The recipe can be found here.

I am not much of a baker, but this year I am going to try my hand at these gorgeous macarons. I am not sure if I’ll succeed, but the recipe looks do-able. If you want try it too, you can find the recipe here.
