Lately I’ve had pillows on the mind. It’s no secret that decorating with pillows is an easy and inexpensive way to change the look of your room. We have an ivory sofa in our living room so I often change the pillows when I want a little tweak. The result? We literally have dozens of pillows in our house. I tend to use pillows as a way to incorporate my love of patterns since they can be much more easily updated than a sofa or chair. Since the new year and new room layout got me itching for another tweak, I started to think of ways to update without adding new patterns. How do you make solids not boring? In place of geometrics, floral and stripes, look to add interest with different textures, sheens and shapes.
The feel of these sheepskin, cashmere and woven hide pillows will make up for even the most vivid pattern:
I’ve always been a sucker for velvet and suede, put them in a bright color, add pom-poms or ruching and I’m sold.
A neutral solid is dressed up with a little shimmer and these warm colors in petals and bubble knit are far from boring.
I’ve already added a sheepskin pillow to the mix, and am eyeing the pom poms for my next purchase. Which ones do you like best?
