Right now I am on the hunt for window coverings . . . lot of window coverings. Unfortunately, there is no getting around the fact that the cost of window coverings adds up quickly.
I have been trying to think of alternatives to custom drapes / shades on every window in our house. One way to save on costs is to choose neutral, plain drapes or shades and add your own trim. There are many choices out there. Some are as simple as adding grosgrain ribbon to the leading edge of a drape.

If you are looking for something a little sassier, you can never go wrong adding a pom-pom or French tassel.

The same choices can be added to roman or flat shades for a great effect.

I think it is time for a little DIY. Right now I am considering all of these Robert Allen trims. I can’t wait to see how this project turns out.
