There is something about maps, especially vintage maps, that I really love. I think it is the perspective that they provide. It goes without saying that looking at a map reminds you that you are part of a larger world. A vintage map also gives you a sense of history. There is nothing better than seeing the way that a city has evolved over time.
Whenever I see maps used as decor, I think to myself that I would like to find a place for one in my own home. Unfortunately, I have not been able to narrow down exactly what I am looking for. One thing I have had trouble deciding on is size. Some part of me loves the idea of an oversized piece – something that takes over the room.

But, then another part of me thinks I might prefer something a little less “in-your-face.”

I also wonder if I would prefer to incorporate a map or two into a larger gallery wall.

And then, of course, there is the question of region. Do you hang a map of your city of residence – or do you pick your favorite cities to visit?

The reality is, there is no wrong answer to these questions. All of these spaces look great. I think it is just a matter of finding the right wall and letting everything fall into place.
