Laying the Foundation

We’re currently working on a design for a Great Room where the layout is key.  Since the space will include both sitting and dining areas, we decided to start from the ground up. First, we considered whether to have separate rugs to define each space or one large rug to unify them.  A typical rug size would not work for the entire space, so we considered having broadloom cut and bound to a custom size.

Stark Carpet offers great designs for broadloom:

Another option for non-standard sizes is FLOR.  The carpet tiles come in a variety of designs and colors.  With a little creativity, you can create a custom design of your own.

Ultimately, our client fell in love with an area rug that really sets the tone for the sitting area. We’re sharing some of our favorite area rug sources:

While we decided on two separate rugs, we are going to use FLOR tiles under the dining table.  Not only do they have some great new styles, they take the stress out of every day spills!
