We’re excited to introduce a new series on the blog: e-design. What is e-design? E-design or virtual design typically refers to the fact that the exchanges between clients and decorators occur online and through email. A client will send measurements, photos and inspirational images and communicate her needs and wishes online. In turn, she will receive design boards with a floor plan and shopping list of suggested pieces to purchase. Lately, a number of virtual design services have popped up, including some from our favorite sites. While physically being and working in a space certainly offers its advantages, this design-in-a-box approach makes getting advice from a professional decorator more accessible and affordable to busy and cost-conscious dwellers.
Our subject is a four-bedroom, two-story house. The main floor includes a foyer, mud room, dining room, den, kitchen, great room and space for outdoor living.
The upper floor houses four bedrooms, including two en-suites, and a laundry room.
The focus of this e-design will emphasize natural elements, neutrals and clean lines. We’ll incorporate different textures and metallics, but the contemporary finish will be completed in muted elements for the white walls and hardwood floors throughout the newly constructed home. Take a peek at some of the photos inspiring this look.
In this new series, we’ll present final e-design plans for two rooms every month. Be sure to check back in next week for our first room!
