As I am writing this on Thursday night, we are expecting a lot of snow in Chicago. My kids’ school has already alerted us that it will be cancelled on Friday, so we have lots of winter fun planned. Sledding, maybe ice skating, and snow ball fights are at the top of our list. But, after all of that chilly fun, it seems like it will also be the perfect day to snuggle up, drink hot chocolate, and watch a movie.
As I think about snuggling up, I cannot help wishing that I had an amazing quilt for the occasion. Whenever I set up a bed, I start with a white linen duvet cover. The white makes the perfect backdrop for any color scheme and a good linen duvet gets better with every wash. I love including a quilt or coverlet to add pattern and texture to a bedroom, but I haven’t gotten around to it in my own bedroom. So, I decided to take this opportunity to take a look around. Here are some of my favorite patterned quilts that are available right now.
If you simple want to add texture, or an extra layer to a bed, these options would do nicely. The Bristol quileted coverlet, and the Essential quilt are the most basic options. They add another layer without adding any visual clutter.
I love the quilt below for adding a bit more texture. The poms add dimension to the quilt without being overwhelming. I also love mixing whites and creams in a bedroom. The result is a rich look with more depth than just whilte alone.
I think the Kimbra quilt below is the epitome of textured bedding. The cream hue is sophisticated but the fringe and diamond pattern is playful without being too juvenile. I think this choice would be beautiful in a master bedroom or guest room. And, it looks just cozy enough for a snowy day spent indoors.
It looks like there are some amazing quilt choices out there. It seems like I had better make a decision before the snow melts. Luckily, my weather app says there are plenty of snowy days in our future. Happy snow day!
