E-Design: Kitchen Nook

April 28, 2016 by Melissa | 0 Comments

We are moving to the next room in our E-Design series, the Kitchen Nook.  Our homeowners are lucky to have a spacious eat-in kitchen, as well as a formal dining room, which means the kitchen can be a more casual, family friendly place.  In my home, my kitchen table serves many purposes.   During the week, it is the place where my kids do homework or art projects while I cook dinner.  When we entertain, the kitchen table becomes the place to congregate while I put the finishing touches on the meal, as well as the “kids’ table” when we socialize with other families.  Here are the images that are inspiring us right now.

Because the table must serve many purposes, we were looking for something stylish but also durable.  In keeping with our design scheme, we stuck with neutrals and cleaner lines for both the table and chairs.  For interest, and to avoid having the room feel too “cold,” we added natural elements which include handmade dinnerware, natural placemats, and linen napkins.  Finally, to avoid blocking the view out the window, we added two barely there geometric pendants to add some visual interest and light.
