I find that sometimes you need a little inspiration in the department of home-keeping.  To be sure, there is a lot of visual inspiration out there either on Pinterest or home-organizing blogs.  But, it is rare to come across a step-by-step manual about decluttering and home organization that doesn’t either put you to sleep or make the process feel too daunting to tackle.  The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo fills that void.  It inspires you.  It is an easy read full of practical advice and funny/goofy anecdotes.  I read it in a day and by the time I was finished I was ready to start pulling apart my drawers and closets and inspired to get rid of anything that did not “spark joy.”  (Read it, you’ll know what I’m talking about.)  The result is that I am more organized, I have an abundance of new storage space, and I have a baseline question to ask myself when either buying new things or getting rid of something I already own.  Does this item “spark joy?”  If the answer is “no,” it should not be in my home.

If you are at all interested in “tidying up” your home, I recommend picking up this book.  And for a cheat-sheet on Ms Kondo’s folding methods, check out this post recently published on GOOP.
