Pack up your foodie picnic basket and blankets and get yourself to one or more of these fantastic and free concerts happening in San Francisco this summer.
The Stern Grove Festival goes all summer long with a varied line-up. Prepare to go early to reserve your space on the lawn, or become a Friend of the festival to receive reserved seating and valet parking. Be sure to bring your warm layers as the weather tends to be cool and foggy around these parts.
Alice’s Summer Thing has a fantastic line-up this year. My daughter is excited to see Kelly Clarkson and Rachel Platten live and again, for free. Her first Alice’s Summerthing concert we saw Hootie & The Blowfish. Though she doesn’t remember it, she had a great time dancing to “I Only Want to Be with You.”
Fillmore Jazz Festival. Music, food and shopping in one location? Sign me up. I love noshing on fried artichoke hearts while strolling Fillmore Street and enjoying the soulful sounds of a sax.
Golden Gate Park Band. Every Sunday you can come listen to a concert band, peruse the food trucks, and skate/bike/stroll around Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park. Bring the kids (or not), visit the Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum or the Academy of Sciences and make a day of it.
