If you are anything like us, you don’t lack for activities or entertainment in the month of December. Whether it is holiday shopping, parties, performances, or family events, it seems like we don’t have a free minute until January 2nd. Nevertheless, here are a few events around town this weekend that are sure to be a good time, and potentially a good source for holiday presents (just in case you are looking for something to do in the unscheduled hour between your neighbor’s holiday open house and your pre-Nutcracker dinner reservations). ‘Tis the season.
The Guardsmen Tree Lot Kids’ Party
Every year this is a must-attend event for our family because the Guardsmen put on a fantastic holiday party for kids (especially the under 10 set). This year the party is on December 5th from 4-7 p.m. The festivities include cookie decorating, arts and crafts, carol singing, refreshments and multiple bounce-houses (to burn off all of that sugar-induced energy). And, the Guardsmen have wine and beer for the parents so everyone can get into the holiday spirit.
The West Coast Craft fair is taking place at the Fort Mason Center this Saturday and Sunday. It is a craft and design show featuring designers, artists and craftspeople who are “inspired by the mood and aesthetic of the West Coast lifestyle.”
El Mercado, A Holiday Market is being held in Ghiradelli Square December 5-7. The event is being presented by LaCocina and DO415 and it looks promising as another great source for locally sourced holiday gifts. The market will feature 20 food vendors and 40 DIY artisans, as well as life music and entertainment.
