Mother’s Day is the perfect excuse (not that we need one) to talk jewelry, one of our favorite subjects. Why not treat your mom (or yourself) to a new bauble? Not since Carrie Bradshaw put on the infamous Carrie necklace have we seen such a resurgence in the popularity of gold. For years, it seemed that silver, white gold and platinum were the only way to go. Not that we’d give those up, but we love the way gold compliments with the delicate, minimalist looks in Jennie Kwon’s designs and pairs with the brilliant jewel tones used by Margaret Elizabeth and Melissa Joy Manning. These latter two local designers have specials for Mom’s Day you don’t want to miss!
Margaret Elizabeth — Enjoy 20% off site-wide with the code FORMOM. Orders placed by this weekend are guaranteed to arrive in time for Mother’s Day. If you’re local, visit their Union Street store so you can try on the jewels in person. Although we will warn you that it’s much harder to walk away empty-handed when you go to the store!
- Margaret Elizabeth
Melissa Joy Manning — This Berkeley designer has such remarkable, unique pieces. If you’re in the area, stop by the Berkeley store on Saturday, May 2nd to take advantage of their sample sale. SF Racked reports that from 11am-3pm on Saturday only, one-of-a-kind and classic pieces will be up to 75% off!

Jennie Kwon Designs — We love the fine, almost vintage-like designs by Jennie Kwon. Even if your mom doesn’t like the bling, these delicate pieces can be worn by anyone. You can find her works in stores across the country (check out the website for a store near you). In SF, look for her pieces at Azalea and Rand + Statler on Hayes.
