Tiny Kitchens

June 1, 2015 by Melissa | 0 Comments

We are renovating a tiny, one-wall kitchen in a studio apartment.  The whole thing has to fit on a wall that is 134 inches, or just over 11 feet.  This is no easy feat.  We would like to include a 24 inch counter-depth refrigerator, 24 inch stove, 24 inch sink and 15 inch pantry.  That only leaves about 46 inches for under-counter storage which means any hope of a dishwasher has been lost.  We’re planning on installing a subway tile backsplash and open-shelving instead of upper cabinets, to avoid a claustrophobic feel.  But, no matter how you slice it, this kitchen is going to be tight.

We’ve been looking for inspiration and, thankfully, we aren’t the first ones to renovate a tiny kitchen.  There are some amazing compact products out there – refrigerator drawers, half-sized dishwashers, and 24 inch ranges.  Here are the images that are inspiring us now.  Stay tuned as we create our own tiny kitchen.
