The Art of Journaling

March 9, 2016 by Melissa | 0 Comments

Over the years, I have sporadically thought about keeping a journal.  Recently, I have been thinking about it a lot more.  Life moves quickly and sometimes I worry that I have already forgotten much more than I remember of these past several years.  But, as a busy, working mom of two young children, I have always dismissed the idea as a time-consuming indulgence.  That was until I read a very interesting post on MyDomaine about “The Surprising Professional Reason You Should Keep A Diary.”  The post cites to an article in the Harvard Business Review and states, “According to a recent article in Harvard Business Schoolkeeping a journal is one of the simplest secrets to being an outstanding leader.”  Apparently, keeping a journal allows you to explore new ideas freely and without judgment, which gives them space to develop and grow.

That is all I needed to hear.  I am inspired.  But, I am also realistic.  I have never been good at doing something every day.  When I have to do something on a daily basis, it very quickly starts to feel like a chore to me.  This time, however, I have decided that if I have a fun or beautiful journal where I can record my thoughts and ideas, writing in a journal may not feel like a chore.  And, there is no lack of beautiful notebooks out there.  Here are some, from perfectly feminine to clean and crisp, that would inspire me to write.
