Growing up, my family always used a separate set of place-settings for Chinese food. While I don’t cook a lot and cook even less Chinese, I still keep different plates and varying sizes of bowls when dining on Asian cuisine. China blue and white patterns are always a classic, and I like to mix and match because it is too hard to choose between all the great designs. My favorite place to find good quality, inexpensive dishes is Kamei Restaurant Supply at 525 Clement Street in San Francisco. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but step inside and you will find rows and rows of serving pieces, plates, bowls, tea sets, and other kitchen necessities — from classic white to my favorite blue and white. Our take-out looks so much better served in these bowls from Kamei (purchased years ago).
