Melissa’s New Year’s post about slowing down and the gift of time renewed my appreciation for my own morning ritual. When I worked in an office, I looked forward to closing my door after the morning rush of getting ready and the kids off to school, and sitting down to enjoy a latte and the calm before the storm.  Since I tended to arrive on the early side, the office would be quiet and relatively empty.  These days, I still enjoy this ritual at home thanks to our Nespresso machine. Lattes and espresso are a cinch to make and saves us from all the $4-5 lattes we were buying elsewhere (Nespresso pods are about 70 cents each).  After talking to a salesperson at Sur La Table, I decided to go with the Pixie Bundle model for its efficient and small footprint (I like a tidy countertop).  The separate frother is genius; it’s easy to clean and can be stored away in a drawer or cabinet.  This was crucial — I can count on one hand the number of times I used the frother on our former and much larger, espresso machine.  Now I make myself a latte (or two) every day and sip it as I log on and get started on my to do list.
