Even though Halloween falls on a Monday this year, there’s no shortage of events this weekend to get the most out of those costumes and enjoy some early trick-or-treating:
Halloween Hoopla: yerba Buena Gardens Festival
From 12 to 2pm on Saturday, bring your kids down to Yerba Buena Gardens for their 16th annual Halloween Hoopla. Enjoy interactive performances, games for kids under 10 and their adults, and the return of the Yerba Buena Pumpkin Patch! Walk in the Halloween Costume Parade, where everyone is welcome to show off their Halloween finery.
boo at the zoo
Put on your costume for Boo at the Zoo this weekend! Compete in the Costume Parade and Contest, which begins at 11am at the Lion Fountain. Enjoy trick-or-treating at multiple spots throughout the zoo, while observing the animals enjoy their own treats. Check out the Pumpkin Stomp & Chomp, Haunted Nature Trail and more! In addition, this weekend the zoo is saying good-bye to “Harvest Hallow” — SF’s largest Hay Maze, a 5,000-square-foot structure built with 600 bales of straw!
scaregrove
On Friday, October 28th, bring the whole family to Scaregrove at Sigmund Stern Grove. Participate in costume contests, brave the haunted houses, enjoy hay rides and carnival rides and more. There will be food for sale and live entertainment at this event from 3-9pm. Tickets are $8/person (free for 2yrs and under).
