In the Works will feature different steps in larger renovation and remodel projects. First up is my kitchen remodel, which I recently shared has inspired me to cook. Even before we moved in, we knew we wanted to redo the kitchen and since six years passed before we actually got to it, we had a lot of time to think about what we wanted. Although it’s hard to think back at how we managed with the old kitchen for so long (aesthetics aside, things were broken for years!), looking back, it was good to have that extra time so we could really make the changes that best met our needs. Now it’s the room that we spend the most time in.
The starting point for this long, thought-out renovation was this stunning Ann Sacks tile. I first spotted it at an Elle Decor Decorator’s Showcase that Melissa and I attended years ago, and it stuck with me. This artisan glass tile became the focus of our kitchen design and the first pin on my kitchen inspiration board (more on that later). The endless options can be overwhelming when taking on a big project and being certain of this starting point really kept me on track.
