We are currently working on the design for a man cave / home office / home gym. As you can tell from my description, the room will serve many purposes. Monday through Friday, it will serve as a home office, but Saturday and Sunday it is all about a place to relax. Oh, and don’t forget that every day it will house a treadmill, free weights, yoga mats, etc. For the home office aspect, we needed to include loads of storage for the two computer monitors, two fax/copier machines, and many files that will live in the space, But, nobody wants to be reminded of work when they are trying to chill out on the weekend and watch the “big game.” Finally, while the room primarily plays to the men of the house, the women will spend time exercising in the space, too. Here are a couple of the spaces that are inspiring the design.

One thing we are aiming to include is a large masculine sofa. We want it to be comfortable (really the only thing the man of the house cares about) but we would also like for it to have a timeless design and preferably be stain resistant (this is a man cave, after all). For that reason, leather seems like the perfect choice. It gets better with age and is relatively low maintenance. Since the sofa will be the anchor item in the room, we’d like to pin it down before choosing any other pieces. Interested? Here is a glimpse of the options we have found so far.
