The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms. I love to cook and I absolutely need a kitchen that is well-designed and highly functional. Not only is the kitchen a place to cook, but it is a place to gather. In our home it is a room for family meals, for homework and art projects, and a place to wind down with a glass of wine. In my case, there is no doubt that the kitchen is the heart of the home.
As we are working on our remodeling project, the kitchen has consumed a number of hours of planning. Because we spend so much time in our kitchen, I want it to be a room that feels welcoming and looks beautiful. A few years ago, we remodeled the kitchen in our last home and created a beautiful open, white, bright space. I adored it. As time has gone on, I have started to love the idea of a gray kitchen. But, I can’t give up entirely on a white kitchen. So, we are trying to incorporate both white and gray into our current space. Here are some photos that are inspiring me now.
I love the idea of gray lower cabinets with white floating shelves in this photo (minus the black hooks).

I plan to use natural brass accents in the form of knobs, pulls and light fixtures. This photo is particularly inspiring.

I wasn’t sure how I would incorporate two full-length pantries into our gray and white color scheme until I saw this photo.

With floating shelves, I love a ceiling-height backsplash of subway tile.

So, how are we going to put it all together? Here are all of the things I have chosen so far. We can’t wait to put the room together.
