At what is hopefully the end of a long, wet winter in the Bay Area, my thoughts have turned to summer days. In my mind’s eye, I see warm days, picnics at the beach, and evening bonfires. Apparently, I am imagining myself on a vacation in Hawaii all summer. Since I know this is only a fantasy, I have started thinking about how to bring the beach indoors. I love the feel of being on vacation at home. These images are inspiring me to create that classic beach house feel.

It doesn’t take much to bring the beach inside. Here are the pieces I would use to create a beachy living space at home. Just add a few chunky candles, some low maintenance plants, and a lovely ocean view (optional, of course), and you’ll feel like you are on vacation all summer long.
