Adding Color With Glassware

Every once in a while, I like to add color somewhere unexpected.  When it comes to tabletop, I generally subscribe to the theory that plates, glasses and other useful items should provide a blank palette – they should not steal the limelight from the main event (the food, of course).  But, lately, I have made an exception when it comes to barware.  I have seen so many beautiful colored glasses that I have started to think about acquiring a bit of a collection.

There are some amazing vintage items available if you are willing to look around a bit.  Some of my favorite sources are Found by Maja, Posh Chicago, Etsy and Chairish.  Here are just a few that I love.

The downside of loving vintage glassware is that it is hard to find a full set.  I think it is perfect for curating a mixed set of glasses but, if you don’t like an eclectic look, there are a number of readily-available options out there.  Stores like Anthropologie, CB2 and Zara Home have some great choices.  Unfortunately, it is difficult to find opaque glass if you are buying new, however, you can find some great transparent colored choices that achieve the same effect.

Just writing this post has inspired me to start looking in earnest for colored glassware.  Opening our cupboard and being greeted by a rainbow would make me smile every day.
