A Twist on Thanksgiving Favorites

I never tire of the traditional Thanksgiving menu.  After all, we only eat turkey once a year so I like to live on it for days.  There’s something comforting about the old standbys — turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes…  But recently, I was inspired to put a twist on some favorites after enjoying the most delicious sweet potato dish at a friend’s dinner party.  The combination of goat cheese and truffle oil was divine and I made sure to get the recipe.  Since I am always on yam duty in our family, I’ve decided to try something new and make this Sweet Potato Puree with Goat Cheese and Truffle Oil.  I couldn’t find a great photo, but believe me, it’s amazing.  Since the kids will want their marshmallows, we’ll enjoy two sweet potato dishes this year.

Want to shake things up this Thanksgiving?  Swap out your traditional menu with these recipes:

Instead of green bean casserole, try Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Cinnamon Butternut Squash, Pecans and Cranberries

Instead of mashed potatoes, try Creamy Potato Stacks with Garlic, Thyme, and Parmesan

Instead of bread stuffing, try Squash and Celeriac Quinoa Stuffing

Instead of pumpkin pie, try Pumpkin Cheesecake Swirled Brownies

Instead of turkey, try the other white meat — Porchetta
